Well who would have thought that I could do 2 entries in one Month!! Work is slow, and I am all caught up. Well back to the last blog. I didn't have to help move things on Friday, because as we got to the storage building, I was asked if I remember which number it was, "I'm not sure, but it should have the different lock that you said you have the key for" Right? Well someone forgot when I asked them if they had the key and they answered "yes", that it was the key for mom & Laverns building and not ours. So we had no key, and we had little time before the gates would lock for the night. So back home, and I just got things together to go to my dog show, and Matt, Randy, and Nathan got things moved while I was gone Saturday!!

The dog show was good. Both dogs qualified, which is the first priority. One dog also placed which is just icing on the cake. She took 4th out of 20 dogs.

This week has been busy moving our things back into our bedroom, we want to work on the yard and my kennels, but the rain has really slowed that down. I also had a root canal on Monday, not good.  I will be on vacation all next week from the Bank, but working extra hard at home. The kids are coming, and that will be GREAT!! My spring obedience class will start the 31st, and I always enjoy the first class each year. It's like everyone is READY to be outside. Until next time, and who knows when that might be.

Well it has been over a year since I have posted anything to this site. But work is slow and I thought I might give a recap of life here in McAlester Oklahoma. After our ice storm in January 07 the next big thing in our life was we purchased a house and an acre of land in Alderson Oklahoma, which is just out side of McAlester. We did quite a bit of remodeling before moving in the first part of July. In just a few months after we moved in my inlaws felt that their health was going down fast and they needed to move in with us. That has been an adjustment. They moved into our house in October. A contractor has been doing an addition to the house, so that they will have their own small apartment, without a kitchen, they will still use our kitchen. Well the inside is finished, and we are to start moving them into it this evening. This is a good thing, with the exception that I have a dog show tomorrow in Fort Worth Texas, and will need to get up at 4:30 am, and I can already feel I will be tired. Of course in July our newest addition came, Miss Kennedy. We have seen her a whole 2 times in her life. But Lord willing we will see her in March, May, maybe July along with her handsome little cousins. We may even have a Gig at our house in March.  We are having our 5th annual Young Speaker's Meeting the 4-6 of April. We are expecting it to be quite larger this year, and look forward to the young people coming. I guess that is the recap of 2007 for the Tidmore family. We are very blessed and God has been good.

January 27, 2007

I thought I would give an account of our lives here from the time the ice storm hit us. It began on 1/12/07 late in the evening, that night we lost our power and did not receive it back until 1/25/07 at approximately 6:30pm. Terra began whelping early Saturday morning on the 13th and as she was doing that, ice was falling, trees were breaking and several were hitting the house. She was a little nervous, but I was also!! She delivered 7 babies, we have 4 males and 3 females.

I was off of work for the first week, we had no power at the bank where I work. On the Tuesday after the Friday that it hit, the bank got some generators up and going, but only a handful of employees were allowed to go in and help. But for us, it was good that I was home. The roads were bad for a few days, and my husband would have had to take me in to work and pick me up. Our son was out of school also.
We then began to live in survival mode. We were very blessed in that we only lacked electricity. We had water, my stove is propane, so I could cook and heat water for dishes and baths. We have a fire place, and that kept us warm (with several layers of clothing also). Mostly in the day time inside it hung around 50 or 55, with the fireplace going 24 hours, and 2 burners on the stove left on to heat water, plus put oxygen back into the air. At night it would drop down in the 40's inside the house. It was around 18-20 outside at night.  We would get up through the night and put more logs on the fire to keep it going. The puppies and Terra were okay, they stayed in the utility room. Keeping the bedding as clean as I normally do was impossible. I am thankful, I had several changes of blankets, we just let them go a little longer before changing them than we normally do.
Down at the kennels was a different story. I am thankful to say all the dogs are well, and really did quite well through it all. I have a net over the kennels for shade in the summer. This netting froze and started collecting all the ice. It formed a sort of igloo for the dogs, and their pens really stayed fairly comfortable for the conditions we were in. I went down twice a day to take them water and let them out to run. After a week we began to thaw out, and I was a little concerned that the ice would come crashing down on top of the dogs. But there was little I could do, just keep an eye on things as it began to melt. When I left one day to travel an hour away to my daughters to do laundry, my husband called and said the ice had started coming down. He was out there and helped it to fall as not to hurt the dogs. All in all we did quite well, and are thankful it has passed. We are however being told that another storm is coming our way next weekend. I certainly hope if it does it is not as bad.

So that is a recap of the happenings at our place. We have survived the McAlester ice storm of 2007, and are very thankful!!

Have a Blessed Day!!

If you would like to see a little of the ice, you can go to my dog web site and under puppies for sale I have a picture with the litter that was born. www.gsdnet.org

Well it has been quite awhile since I've posted, but when you do the same things all the time they seem quite boring!!! The most unusual thing I have done since August is go to California the week after Thanksgiving, I hadn't been out there in over 14 years!! A lot has sure changed!

I hope to attend some of the preachers study, more than I first thought, after realizing the first day is on the 25th and I won't have to work! Than back on Thursday, and hopefully be able to stay through the NY's meeting. I believe Ivan has done another great job for us all on the song. I only heard him run through it once while visiting, but I really liked it! But then he never lets us down!!

Randy will be making more trips out of the country this coming year (Lord willing), he REALLY enjoys that type of work. He has sent out over 1,200 correspondents this year from the Spanish web site. Nathan Battey is working here in McAlester with our young people, he is doing an outstanding job. If the young people will only realize what a blessing they have and step up and be interested in the church, that would be a great boost to this congregation.

The dogs are doing well. I have 2 puppies that are 5 weeks today. Another litter due the middle of January, then the girls will rest through the summer from breeding, and hopefully we can attend a few shows. I guess that covers about the last 4 months! See not to exciting! May you all have a very Blessed day!!

Even though I've not updated in quite awhile there really isn't a lot to tell. Randy & Elias made the trip to Spain, and there is now a small congregation of faithful believers meeting there.

I have a litter of 6 puppies born on July 22, they always keep me busy, but I really enjoy them. Three of them have had an infection, and have been on an antibiotic, but I think they are okay for now. You never relax about a litter, until they are all in their new homes.

We have started looking for a house again, and that has been a little frustrating. The prices here are like if you were in a city, I just don't get it! We have found a mobile home on 5 acres, that we are very seriously considering. We will find out more on Monday. We have been suffering terribly in this mobile home with the heat. It cannot stay below 90 sometimes inside with this heat. But the one we are looking at is a lot newer, so hopefully the insulation would be a lot better.

For my girls, we have almost completed cleaning out the old white house, we have rented a storage building to put it all in. Matthew starts school on Monday. It seems time is just flying by! I'm hoping Matthew and I can attend the MO labor day meeting. I guess that may depend now, on if we buy a place and what is going on. Just take it one day at a time. Well until next time.
